Black and white Photos

digital photography

I hope you are aware that this is that the digital age. Nearly everything you can imagine is digital. Right from audio to books to videos. But perhaps the one of the best things that was better off in the older, non digital format is photographs. Now call me a dinosaur, but I have always been fascinated by black and white photos. I still look fondly at some of my oldest dusty albums which are filled with black and white photos. Colored photographs have their merits, I couldn’t disagree with that. But for the richness of an era gone by, nothing can compare with black and white photos.

There is something about black and white photos that is truly unique don't you agree? Popular opinion dictates that something that is monochromatic is likely to be less appealing than something that is multi chromatic. Even in our everyday lives, most of us prefer to have wide array of colors than to black and white, so why should it be any different with photos? But black and white photos have a charm of their own. If you don’t believe me, dig through your old albums (OK, make that really, really old albums!) and see it for yourself. The kind of depth and vitality that your black and white photos can give you just does not exist in the later, more new fangled photos you may have.

There is one other thing about black and white photos. Unlike the more contemporary photos, they are black and white photosageless and timeless. Ever wondered why, if color is the way of the world, why the digital cameras of the present day still come with the option that allows you to capture black and white photos? My rationale for this is that the more discerning consumer will always choose black and white photos over the new fangled, digital color photos. And no amount of pixels or mega pixels for that matter is likely to change that!

Black and white photos are not just great to look at. Look at some of the most exclusive design and fashion magazines nowadays. Chances are, there are more than two sections devoted to black and white photos. And just to convince yourself, compare these with the pages of the color photos. It is the same models in most cases, the cloths are not all that distinctive. Now cross your heart and tell me that the black and white photos are not a tad more beautiful!

There you go. Who now can deny that the black and white photos are surely better than the color photos. And just ask yourself this… if the professionals themselves are going in for such things, isn’t it time you too switched to black and white photos the next time you go for a photo shoot trip?
